2015-1-BG01-KA202-014337

3 in 1 INNOVATION

    Skills in 3 key competences acquired in just 1 training course:
  • social entrepreneurship skills;
  • foreign language skills;
  • ICT skills.

What is social entrepreneurship?

Social entrepreneurship is about how to start, build and run a business that changes and improves the world.

Who are the social entrepreneurs?

Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems.

What does CLIL stand for?

Content and language integrated learning is a term created in 1994 by David Marsh and Anne Maljers as a methodology similar to but distinct from language immersion and content-based instruction. It's an approach for learning content through an additional language, thus teaching both the subject and the language. This kind of approach has been identified as important by the European Commission, because it can provide opportunities for pupils to use their new language skills now.

Project Features

What?

Contribution to the development of entrepreneurial, language and digital skills in VET, including for the rural areas.

Where?

In the rural areas of 5 European countries – Bulgaria, Ireland, Romania, Spain and Turkey.

How?

By merging language teachers' expertise, social entrepreneurs' expertise and ICT expertise to achieve an important synergy: an innovative, open-access, cross-curricula VET solution with value added.

Who?

Social entrepreneurs, VET providers, trainers and learners, NGOs and decision-makers in the social sector, authorities and policy-makers.

Why Social Entrepreneurship?

In many cases social entrepreneurship is the main, if not the only, development potential in some areas of Europe, the rural regions in particular. The European Network for Rural Development reports that some 14 % of the population in the EU’s predominantly rural regions suffers from employment rates of less than half the EU average. At the same time the social economy is an important pillar of the European economy, representing some 10% of GDP. More than 11 million workers or 4.5% of the active EU population are employed in the social economy. One in every four new businesses set up each year is a social business. New educational courses for rural people, many of whom are at risk of exclusion because of geographic and economic disadvantages are seen as a driver for social innovation in the rural areas according to a report on social innovations and employment in rural communities.

Why CLIL?

It increases the opportunities for language learning and practice without increasing the curriculum time. It integrates a variety of ICT tools to facilitate "hands-on" trainings. „It opens doors on languages for a broader range of learners, nurturing self-confidence in young learners and those who have not responded well to formal language instruction in general education. It provides exposure to the language without requiring extra time in the curriculum, which can be of particular interest in vocational settings." (Wikipedia)
